I was introduced to lacrosse through Alan Luciuk, a pioneer in field lacrosse in Canada. After coaching in the Saskatoon Field Lacrosse system I moved to Kugluktuk, Nunavut in the Artic Circle.
In Kugluktuk we started a program known as the Grizzlies and from that moment my life changed. I watched students, athletes and great kids use sport to re-define themselves so they could reach amazing heights.
Personally I have been exposed to some of the games best players and coaches and had opportunities to learn the game from all angles. Some of the coaches and friends that have had the largest impact are Canadian Icons, Chris Sanderson, Kyle Miller, Brodie and Patrick Merrill, Paul Rai and Jimmy Quinlan to name a few.
I believe in a team that "controls the contollables" to coin a term from Brodie Merrill, and uses the fundamental expertise that you obtain through practice to excel on the field. The character of the player has to be a focal point, good kids do good things.
Coach Lyle comes out of Sturgis, Saskatchewan where he played for Al Luciuk and the 911 Lacrosse Program. His lacrosse resume is impressive to say the least, but what separates Coach Lyle is his philosophy for developing players. "focus on 3 things that we control: our attitude, our effort and having fun - if we focus on those we will improve as humans, players and teammates"
Coach Lyle has the following accolades, and is an integral coach to the Badgers program:
Although new to Lacrosse Coach Jason has a long resume of coaching experience. He has coached Basketball at all High School levels for over 17 years and has won 4 zone championships, and qualified for Provincial Championships 7 times, including being ranked as a top 10 provincial team.
He has been a teacher and principal in the BC Education system for over 22 years and is currently a director for School District No. 5.
Coach Jason enjoys skiing, golfing and is currently doing a complete renovation of his house.
Coach Rich has worked with Badgers for many season now and is constantly looking for new and interesting ways to develop our teams. He is passionate about all aspects of the game. Coach RIch is also a member of our Badger Den Team and spends time with our teams during their workouts encouraging the best from each athlete.
Coach Corey has coached hockey, box lacrosse and field lacrosse. He is always eager to pass on his knowledge of the game and spends his time getting to know the best way to get the most out of each athlete.
